BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford women's basketball team will return home to host the Alabama State Hornets Wednesday evening at 6 p.m. in the Pete Hanna Center.
Samford enters the game with a record of 2-4. The Bulldogs are coming off an 80-57 loss at 20th-ranked Kentucky Sunday afternoon.
Samford is led in scoring by
Kassidy Blevins, averaging 15.7 points per game.
Hannah Nichols is scoring 15.5 points per game so far this season.
Samantha Fitzgerald leads the squad in rebounding, grabbing 5.0 boards per contest.
Ellen Riggins averages 4.2 rebounds per game.
Charity Brown is the team leader in assists, dishing out 4.2 assists per game.
Brittany Stevens averages 3.2 assists per game for the Bulldogs.
Alabama State enters the game with a record of 1-4. The Hornets are coming off an 84-45 win over Mobile on Nov. 18.
Britney Wright leads ASU in scoring, averaging 16.2 points per game. Daniele Ewert scores 7.8 points per game.
Wright also leads the squad in rebounding, grabbing 7.2 boards per contest. Tatyana Calhoun averages 5.0 rebounds per game.
Shamyiah Smith is the team leader in assists, dishing out 1.8 assists per game. Wright and Ewert average 1.4 assists per contest each.
Samford and Alabama State will be meeting for the14th time, with Samford holding a 9-4 advantage in the series. The teams met last season, with Samford taking a 54-35 win in a game played in Montgomery, Ala.
