BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford women's basketball team will host cross-town rival UAB Thursday night at 6 p.m. in the Pete Hanna Center.

Samford enters the game with a record of 4-5 so far this season. The Bulldogs are coming off a 73-54 loss to Belmont Monday night.
Junior
Kassidy Blevins has led Samford in scoring, averaging 14.9 points per game through the Bulldogs' first nine games of the season. Junior
Hannah Nichols is scoring 14.2 points per game so far this season.
Freshman
Samantha Fitzgerald is the team leader in rebounding, grabbing 4.6 boards per contest. Senior
Ellen Riggins averages 4.1 rebounds per game for the Bulldogs.
Senior
Brittany Stevens and freshman
Charity Brown share the team lead in assists, each dishing out 3.4 assists per game. Riggins averages 2.2 assists per game for the Bulldogs.
UAB comes into Thursday night's game with a record of 4-2 on the young season. The Blazers are coming off a 64-49 win at Southern Illinois on Saturday.
For the season, UAB is led in scoring by Miyah Barnes, averaging 11.5 points per game. Deanna Kuzmanic scores 9.7 points per game for the Blazers.
Keonna Farmer leads the team in rebounding, grabbing 6.0 boards per contest. Kara Rawls averages 5.3 rebounds per game.
Barnes is also the team leader in assists, dishing out 3.2 assists per game. Kuzmanic averages 2.5 assists per game.
Samford and UAB will be meeting for just the fifth time ever in women's basketball, with UAB holding a 3-1 advantage in the series. The teams met last season, with the Blazers earning a 61-41 win in a game played at UAB's Bartow Arena.
