BIRMINGHAM, Ala.— The Samford women's basketball team will wrap up its regular season by hosting Wofford Saturday evening at 6 p.m. in the Pete Hanna Center.
The game will be Senior Night for Samford. Seniors Keke Fletcher, Amara Mayers, Taylor Reece and Krista Stricklin will be honored in a ceremony prior to the game.
Samford enters the game with a record of 18-10 overall and 10-3 in Southern Conference play. The Bulldogs are coming off a 77-63 win over Furman Thursday night.
Destiney Elliott and Reece share the team lead in scoring at 9.1 points per game. Elliott leads the team in rebounding, averaging 7.4 boards per game.
Mayers is second on the team in rebounding at 3.7 rebounds per game, while Stricklin averages 3.5 rebounds per game.
Brittany Stevens leads the team in assists at 2.5 assists per game. Elliott averages 1.8 assists per game.
Wofford comes into the contest with a record of 9-18 overall and 3-10 in SoCon games. The Terriers are coming off an 80-32 loss at Mercer Thursday night.
Kentra Washington leads Wofford in scoring, averaging 13.8 points per game. Jordan Frazier averages 8.4 points per game for the Terriers.
Ashton Fleming leads Wofford in rebounding, grabbing 6.8 boards per contest. Washington averages 5.9 rebounds per game.
Chanel Stokes leads Wofford in assists, averaging 1.9 per game. Frazier averages 1.8 assists per game for the Terriers.
Samford and Wofford are meeting for the 20th time, with the Bulldogs holding a 17-2 advantage in the series. The teams met earlier this season, with Samford earning a 58-39 win on Jan. 30 in Spartanburg, S.C. The Bulldogs are 8-0 against Wofford in Birmingham, 7-2 against the Terriers in Spartanburg, S.C., and 2-0 at neutral sites. Samford has won the last eight meetings in the series.
