BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—The Samford women's basketball team will return home to play host to the UNCG Spartans in Southern Conference action Thursday at 4 p.m. (CT) in the Pete Hanna Center.
Samford enters the game with a record of 14-8 overall and 6-1 in Southern Conference play. The Bulldogs are coming off a 58-39 win at Wofford on Saturday.
So far this season,
Taylor Reece leads Samford in scoring per game, averaging 9.2 points per game.
Destiney Elliott averages 9.1 points per game for the Bulldogs
Elliott leads the team in rebounding, grabbing 7.8 boards per contest.
Amara Mayers is second on the team at 4.2 rebounds per game.
Brittany Stevens leads the team in assists, dishing out 2.5 assists per game. Elliott averages 1.9 assists per game.
UNCG enters the game with a record of 8-14 overall and 0-7 in SoCon play. The Spartans are coming off an 84-72 loss at Western Carolina Saturday afternoon.
Lucy Mason leads the Spartans in scoring, averaging 23.2 points per game. Shanese Harris scores 9.9 points per game for UNCG.
India Timpton leads UNCG in rebounding, grabbing 7.5 boards per contest. Jade Scaife averages 7.3 rebounds per game.
Mason also leads the team in assists, dishing out 2.9 assists per game. Harris averages 1.7 assists per game.
Samford and UNCG will be meeting for the 15th time, with Samford holding a 10-4 advantage in the series. The two teams met earlier this season, with Samford coming away with a 57-52 win in Greensboro, N.C., on Jan. 9.
Samford has a record of 5-1 against UNCG in the Pete Hanna Center. The Bulldogs are 4-3 against the Spartans in Greensboro, N.C., and the team is 1-0 against UNCG at neutral sites.
