BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—The Samford women's basketball team will play host to the Western Carolina Catamounts in Southern Conference action Saturday at 3 p.m. in the Pete Hanna Center.
 
Samford enters the game with a record of 15-8 overall and 7-1 in Southern Conference play. The Bulldogs are coming off an 80-49 win over UNCG Thursday.
 
So far this season, Destiney Elliott leads Samford in scoring, averaging 9.1 points per game. Taylor Reece averages 8.9 points per game for the Bulldogs.
 
Elliott also leads the team in rebounding, grabbing 7.7 boards per contest. Amara Mayers is second on the team in rebounding at 4.1 rebounds per game.
         
Brittany Stevens leads the team in assists, averaging 2.6 assists per game. Elliott averages 1.9 assists per game.
 
Western Carolina is currently 6-16 overall and 2-6 in league play. WCU is coming off a 63-42 loss at Mercer Thursday.
         
Ace Easter leads WCU in scoring, averaging 12.3 points per game. Sherae Bonner scores 8.9 points per game for the Catamounts.
         
Bonner leads the squad in rebounding, grabbing 7.8 boards per contest. Erika Joseph averages 6.1 rebounds per game for Western Carolina.
         
Kyia Hough leads the team in assists, averaging 2.9 assists per game. Raziyah Farrington dishes out 1.8 assists per game.
 
Samford and Western Carolina will be meeting for the 18th time, with Samford holding a 13-4 advantage in the series. The teams met earlier this season, on Jan. 7 in the SoCon opener for both teams, with Samford winning by a score of 59-42 in Cullowhee, N.C.  
         
Samford is 6-1 against Western Carolina in Birmingham, 6-2 when playing in Cullowhee, N.C., and 1-1 at neutral sites.
