JACKSON, Tenn.— Samford senior Zach Hughes finished ninth to lead the Bulldog men's golf team at the Grover Page Classic, hosted by UT Martin, Monday and Tuesday at the Jackson Country Club.

As a team, Samford finished eighth in the event. The Bulldogs shot a three-round total of 888 (296-297-295). Arkansas State won the tournament, firing an 846 (282-284-280).

Hughes led the team with a total score of two-under par 214 (73-70-71). Hughes had 13 birdies in the tournament in posting his third-straight top 10 finish this season.

Samford's Austin Jackson, playing as an individual, tied for 14^th in the 73-player field with a final score of 217 (74-73-70). Crawford Flach tied for 18^th at 218 (68-75-75).

"Zach's game is solid and continues to get better each tournament," Samford head coach Al DelGreco said. "Crawford added another top 20 finish, and Austin played as an individual and tied for 14^th. All three earned exemptions for our next two events. We need better scores from our three, four and five players. I like the work ethic of our guys, we just need better course management."

Aaron Walker tied for 46^th with a three-round total of 229 (78-77-74). Ashton Nix tied for 49^th at 230 (79-75-76), while Robert Adams posted a score of 231 (77-79-75).

Andrew Huseman of Arkansas State earned individual medalist honors, firing a three-round total score of 207 (69-70-68). Preston French of Murray State came in second with a score of 208 (65-75-68).

Samford will return to action Mar. 20-22, when the Bulldogs take part in the Bobby Nicholls Intercollegiate, hosted by Tennessee Tech.
