Women's Tennis Set To Host UT Martin Sunday

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford women's tennis team will host the UT Martin Skyhawks Sunday at 3 p.m. at the Samford Tennis Complex.

Samford enters the match with a record of 3-6 so far this season. The Bulldogs are coming off a 4-0 loss at 15^th-ranked Kentucky last Sunday.

The Bulldogs are led by seniors Jessica Northcutt and Carita Moolman. Northcutt plays the No. 1 singles position for Samford and has a record of 2-7. Moolman fills the No. 2 spot, posting a record of 3-5.

Fellow senior Iva Parapunova plays at the No. 3 singles spot, and has a record of 3-6. Sophomore Ellie Gerlach has posted a mark of 3-5 at No. 4. Sophomore Savannah Wood has a record of 5-4 (5-3 at No. 5 and 0-1 at No. 4). Junior Annika Hepp (3-3) and freshman Georgina Jupp (1-1) have both played at the No. 6 singles spot.

In doubles, Moolman and Northcutt have posted an impressive 6-2 record at the No. 1 spot. Gerlach and Hepp have a record of 4-2 (3-2 at No. 2, 1-0 at No. 3). Parapunova and Wood are 3-2 at No. 3, while Gerlach and Parapunova have a record of 0-3 at No. 2. Jupp and Wood have posted a mark of 0-2 at No. 3.

UT Martin comes into the match with a record of 2-7. The Skyhawks are coming off a 6-1 win at Alabama-Huntsville on Friday.

Sunday's match will mark the first time Samford has faced UT Martin in a dual match since 2011. In that match, the Bulldogs defeated the Skyhawks, 6-1 at the Samford Tennis Complex.
