M-Golf Set For Vanderbilt Tourney This Weekend

FRANKLIN, Tenn.— The Samford men's golf team will take part in the Mason Rudolph Men's Golf Championship, hosted by Vanderbilt University this weekend.

The tournament will take place at the Vanderbilt Legends Club (par 71, 7,100 yards). The teams will play two rounds on Saturday, beginning with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. The event will wrap up with one round Sunday, with tee times beginning at 8 a.m.

Samford and the host school, Vanderbilt will be joined in the 14-team field by Alabama, Ball State, ETSU, Florida, Lamar, Liberty, Memphis, MTSU, Rice, SMU, UAB and West Virginia.

So far this season, Samford has used a lineup with a mix of veterans and newcomers. The team has been led by senior Zach Hughes with a stroke average of 73.00, with three top 10 finishes in 23 rounds of action. Freshman Aaron Walker has a 74.80 average in 20 rounds.

Junior Ashton Nix has posted a stroke average of 75.24 in 17 rounds so far this season. Junior Austin Jackson (75.71 avg. in 14 rounds), freshman Crawford Flach (75.95 avg. in 19 rounds), junior Robert Adams (76.08 avg. in 12 rounds) and freshman Jackson Seawell (78.69 avg. in 13 rounds) have also seen significant playing time this season.
