Series At A Glance

• This meeting marks the 13^th & 14^th time the two programs will have squared off against each other with the Lady Toppers holding the all-time lead in the series 8-4 over the Bulldogs.
• WKU has had the Bulldogs number the last five meetings winning by a combined run total of 42-2 over that span.
• Samford's last win against Western Kentucky occurred on April 5, 2011 when the Bulldogs won 4-3 in Bowling Green, Kentucky.

News, Notes & Nuggets

• Senior Megan Dowdy is one of three Bulldogs who have set or is on the verge of setting new season and career-records at Samford. The Fairhope, Alabama native already owns four career-record titles at Samford and is on the verge of nabbing two more. Dowdy has 17 doubles on the season and 41 in her career while she's tallied three triples in 2016 and 9 total during her time at Samford. She is one double shy from tying the single-season record set by Michelle Wright in 2001 (18) and two from tying the career record set by Janet Middleton (43) which was set from 1999-2002. Pam Abernathy (1989-1992) and Connie Waters (1991-1994) both hold the career-triples title with 10 each.
• Fellow senior Callie Brister is just one RBI shy from equaling the Samford career-record for RBIs which was set by Amanda Barrs with 119 from 2007-2010. Brister currently sits with 118 RBIs throughout her career and has 28 on the season.
• Senior Caitlin Bice set the single-season school record for walks (34) which was previously held Shelly Stanley who set the record with 30 back in 2004. Bice currently ranks 27^th nationally in walks.
• Entering this week the Bulldogs are one of the top offensive teams in the SoCon as the team ranks 1^st in the SoCon in 18 of the 21 offensive categories.

• Chattanooga plays host to Mercer this weekend for a three-game series with a doubleheader on Saturday and a single game on Sunday.
• ETSU welcomes UNCG to Johnson City, Tennessee for a critical SoCon matchup. ETSU currently stands in second place in the SoCon standings at 5-4 while the Spartans sit fourth overall with a record of 4-5. The Bulldogs still have yet to play either team this season.
• Western Carolina looks to bounce back in SoCon action against Furman this weekend. The Catamounts will make the trek to Greeneville, S.C. for their second SoCon road weekend in a row after hosting the first two weekends.
