CULLOWHEE, N.C. – The Samford women's basketball team will play its first road Southern Conference game of the season when the Bulldogs play at Western Carolina Thursday at 6 p.m. (CT) in the Ramsey Regional Activity Center.

Samford enters the game with a record of 6-10 overall and 0-2 in Southern Conference games. The Bulldogs are coming off a 69-57 loss to ETSU last Sunday in the Pete Hanna Center.
Samford is led offensively by junior guard
Hannah Nichols, averaging 15.6 points per game. Junior guard
Kassidy Blevins averages 11.4 points per game for the Bulldogs.
Freshman forward
Samantha Fitzgerald leads Samford in rebounding, grabbing 4.3 boards per contest. Senior forward
Ellen Riggins averages 3.9 rebounds per game.
Senior guard
Brittany Stevens is the team leader in assists, dishing out 3.3 assists per game. Freshman guard
Charity Brown averages 2.4 assists per game for the Bulldogs.
Western Carolina comes into the game with a record of 5-12 overall and 0-2 in Southern Conference play. The Catamounts are coming off a 73-44 loss at Furman Saturday.
Western Carolina is led in scoring by Sherae Bonner, averaging 10.3 points per game. Raziyah Farrington scores 9.9 points per game for the Catamounts.
Bonner is also the team leader in rebounding, grabbing 9.8 boards per contest. Tembre Moates averages 3.9 rebounds per game.
Kyia Hough leads Western Carolina in assists, dishing out 2.8 assists per game. JonTay Mitchem averages 1.8 assists per game for the Catamounts.
Samford and Western Carolina will be meeting for the 19th time, with Samford holding a 14-4 advantage in the series. The teams met twice last season, with Samford winning both games. In the first meeting, Samford earned a 59-42 win in Cullowhee, N.C. Later in the season, the Bulldogs earned a 57-52 win in the Pete Hanna Center.
Following Thursday evening's game at Western Carolina, Samford will remain on the road as the Bulldogs play at UNCG on Jan. 14. The game is scheduled for a 3 p.m. (CT) start from Greensboro, N.C.
