BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford women's basketball team will play host to the Furman Paladins in Southern Conference action Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Pete Hanna Center.
The game will be broadcast live on ESPN3 with Curt Bloom (PBP), Tyler Hood (Color) and Macy Marin (Bench) calling the action.
Samford enters the game with a record of 8-11 overall and 2-3 in Southern Conference games. The Bulldogs are coming off a 57-54 win over Wofford Thursday night.
For the season, Samford is led in scoring by junior guard
Hannah Nichols, averaging 14.6 points per game. Nichols led the team with 20 points in Thursday night's win over Wofford. Junior guard
Kassidy Blevins averages 10.3 points per game for the Bulldogs.
Freshman forward
Samantha Fitzgerald leads the team in rebounding, averaging 4.1 boards per contest. Senior
Ellen Riggins averages 4.0 rebounds per game.
Senior guard
Brittany Stevens is the team leader in assists, dishing out 2.8 assists per game. Freshman
Charity Brown averages 2.4 assists per game for the Bulldogs.
Furman comes into the game with a record of 10-10 overall and 3-1 in Southern Conference play. The Paladins are coming off a 76-52 loss at Mercer Thursday evening.
For the season, Furman is led in scoring by Whitney Bunn, averaging 15.2 points per game. Cierra Carter scores 12.6 points per game for the Paladins.
Carter leads Furman in rebounding, grabbing 8.2 boards per contest. Tierra Hodges averages 5.8 rebounds per game for Furman.
Bunn is also the team leader in assists, dishing out 4.7 assists per game. Carter averages 1.4 assists per game for the Paladins.
Samford and Furman are meeting for the 18
th time, with the Bulldogs holding a 12-5 advantage in the series. The teams met twice last season, with Samford earning wins in both contests. The Bulldogs took a 58-45 win on Jan. 28 in Greenville, S.C. Samford then defeated Furman, 77-63, in the Pete Hanna Center on Feb. 25.
