BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford women's basketball team will host East Tennessee State in Southern Conference action Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Pete Hanna Center.

Samford enters the game with a record of 6-9 overall and 0-1 in Southern Conference play. The Bulldogs are coming off a 77-61 loss to Chattanooga Wednesday evening.
Junior guard
Hannah Nichols leads the team in scoring, averaging 15.4 points per game. Junior guard
Kassidy Blevins is averaging 11.7 points per game so far this season.
Freshman forward
Samantha Fitzgerald is the team leader in rebounding, pulling down 4.3 boards per contest. Senior forward
Ellen Riggins is averaging 4.2 rebounds per game.
Senior guard
Brittany Stevens leads the squad in assists, dishing out 3.2 assists per game. Freshman guard
Charity Brown averages 2.6 assists per game.
East Tennessee State enters Saturday's game with a record of 8-8 overall and 0-1 in Southern Conference play. The Bucs are coming off a 72-55 loss at Mercer Thursday evening.
For the season, ETSU is led in scoring by Tianna Tarter, averaging 20.3 points per game. Shamauria Bridges averages 13.7 points per game.
Tarter also leads the team in rebounding, grabbing 5.8 boards per contest. Raven Dean averages 4.9 rebounds per game for ETSU.
Tarter is also the team leader in assists, dishing out 4.6 assists per game. Dean averages 1.1 assists per game for the Bucs.
Samford and ETSU will be meeting for just the sixth time ever in women's basketball, with Samford holding a 4-1 advantage in the series. The teams met twice last season, with Samford winning both contests. In the meeting in Birmingham, played on Jan. 21, Samford came away with a 55-47 win over the visiting Bucs. Later in the season, Samford earned a 56-51 win on Feb. 20 in Johnson City, Tenn.
