BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- With approximately four seconds remaining in overtime Sunday and the score deadlocked at 89-89, Samford's Christen Cunningham pulled up for a jumper in the lane and fired the possible game-winning shot. Cunningham's attempt rimmed out, but sophomore center Wyatt Walker grabbed the rebound with just under two seconds left and tipped it in for the decisive basket en route to the Bulldogs' thrilling 91-89 victory over the Wofford Terriers.

Walker's game-winning basket helped Samford (12-5, 3-1 Southern Conference) defeat Wofford (6-11, 1-3 SoCon) at home in the Pete Hanna Center for just the second time in school history. The victory also snapped a six-game losing streak to the Terriers.

Walker paced the Bulldogs with 25 points on 8-of-12 shooting from the floor. He also posted a team-high eight rebounds as Samford won the battle of the boards, 38-32.

The Bulldogs outscored Wofford, 42-22, in the paint, but the Terriers knocked down 13 3-point baskets and turned in a 43.3-percent outing from long range.

Wofford's Fletcher Magee led all scorers with 26 points as he connected on 6-of-12 attempts from beyond the arc. Magee also grabbed four rebounds and logged a game-high 41 minutes of playing time.

Samford nearly led Sunday's game from wire-to-wire. The Bulldogs held an advantage in the SoCon contest for 38:46, while the teams were tied for a total of 2:58; primarily in the overtime period.

Samford took a quick 14-7 advantage in the game and led by as many as 19 points early the second half. Not to be deterred, Wofford's gunslingers Magee and Eric Garcia continued to chip away at the Bulldogs' lead by knocking down a combined 11 3-point baskets.

Garcia, the Terriers' senior point guard from Aurora, Colorado, contributed 22 points, eight assists and three rebounds, while shooting 6-of-9 from the field and 5-of-7 from beyond the arc.

Behind its 3-point shooting, Wofford outscored the Bulldogs, 58-45, in the second half. The Terriers climbed back in the game and the score at 82-82 with two seconds remaining in regulation as Garcia made three straight free throws following a controversial foul call on a 3-point attempt.

Garcia entered the game ranked seventh in the nation with a 96.1 shooting percentage from the free-throw line. He finished 5-for-5 on Sunday.

In overtime, Samford received four points from Cunningham, three from Walker and a pair of free throws from junior forward Alex Thompson. The Bulldogs are now 14-2 when scoring at least 80 points or more, dating back to the beginning of last season.

Samford finished with four players scoring in double figures. Walker registered a season-high 25 points, while Alex Thompson tallied 20, Cunningham scored 12 and Josh Sharkey chipped in with 10. Cunningham notched his first double-double of the season with 12 points and 12 assists.

Last week, Cunningham became the fastest player in school history to reach 100 assists in a single season and boasts 114 in 2016-17. The Bulldogs' junior point guard is now just five points shy of reaching 1,000 in his career, as well as 38 assists away from setting Samford's single-season assist record of 152.

The Samford University basketball team will next be in action Wednesday at 7 p.m. (CST) as the Bulldogs conclude their current three-game SoCon homestand with another key matchup against the Mercer Bears.
