Men's Golf Set To Host Samford Intercollegiate This Week

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—The Samford men's golf team will host the Samford Intercollegiate, Monday and Tuesday at Greystone Golf and Country Club.
The teams will play two rounds Monday, beginning with a shotgun start at 9 a.m., and a single round Tuesday, with tee times beginning at 8:30 a.m. Joining Samford in the tournament will be representatives from UT Martin, Murray State, Tennessee Tech, Austin Peay, Montevallo, Delta State, Miles College, UAB (individuals), Auburn and Alabama (individuals).
Samford has been led so far this fall by sophomore Alec Stopperich, leading the SoCon with a 71.75 stroke average over 12 rounds of golf. Junior Aaron Walker has averaged 72.83, also in 12 rounds of work.
Sophomore Harlan Winn has a stroke average of 73.89 over nine rounds. Austin Rains (74.67 avg. in 3 rounds), Jake Forgay (75.00 in 9 rounds), Hunter Hickingbotham (76.11 in 9 rounds), Jackson Seawell (76.67 in 3 rounds), Alex Markham (76.83 in 6 rounds) and George Hall (80.33 in 3 rounds) have also seen action for the Bulldogs so far this fall.
The Samford Intercollegiate will wrap up the fall portion of Samford's season. The Bulldogs will open the spring season Feb. 12-13 at the Mobile Sports Authority Intercollegiate, hosted by South Alabama.
