BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford women's basketball team will play host to the Rhode Island Rams Friday evening at 6 p.m. in the Pete Hanna Center.
 
Samford enters the game with a record of 0-2. The Bulldogs opened the season with a 71-60 home loss to Colorado, and then fell at Arkansas, 84-63.


 
Senior Hannah Nichols leads Samford so far in both scoring and rebounding, averaging 16.0 points and 9.0 rebounds per game. Sophomore Olivia Crozier averages 14.0 points and 6.5 boards per contest for the Bulldogs.
 
Freshman Makaila Woolard has averaged 9.0 points per game so far. Sophomore Charity Brown is averaging 8.0 assists per game so far to lead Samford in that category, to go along with her 7.5 points per game.
 
Rhode Island enters Friday night's game with a record of 1-1 on the young season. The Rams opened the season with an 81-64 win over UMass-Lowell, before falling, 82-60 to Minnesota.
              
Abby Streeter is the team leader in scoring averaging 15.0 points per game in the first two games. Elemy Colome is averaging 13.5 points and 5.0 rebounds per game for the Rams.
              
Samford and Rhode Island are meeting for just the second time. The previous meeting came on Nov. 21, 2016, with Rhode Island earning a 78-63 home win.
