Women's Basketball To Play At Belmont Tuesday Evening

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford women's basketball team will travel to Nashville, Tenn., to take on the Belmont Bruins Tuesday night at 6 p.m. at the Curb Event Center.
 
Samford enters the game with a record of 2-2. The Bulldogs are coming off a 58-39 win over Alabama State Sunday afternoon.
 
Samford has been led so far this season by senior guard Hannah Nichols, averaging 17.3 points and 8.0 rebounds per game. Olivia Crozier is averaging 12.8 points and 6.5 rebounds per contest.
 
Charity Brown is scoring 8.5 points per game, grabbing 4.0 rebounds per game and dishing out 8.8 assists per game. Samantha Fitzgerald averages 8.3 points and 5.3 rebounds per game.
 
Belmont is currently 2-1 on the young season. The Bruins are coming off a 74-42 win over Fort Wayne last Wednesday.
 
Kylee Smith leads Belmont in scoring, averaging 19.0 points per game, and in rebounding with an average of 7.3 boards per contest. Darby Maggard averages 18.0 points per game for the Bruins, while Sally McCabe averages 14.3 points and 9.0 rebounds per game.
 
Samford and Belmont have met seven previous times, with Belmont holding a 7-0 advantage in the series. The teams last met on Dec. 5, 2016, with Belmont earning a 73-64 win in a game played at the Pete Hanna Center. Four of the seven previous meetings were as co-members of the Atlantic Sun Conference.
