TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Samford women's basketball team will travel to Tallahassee, Florida, to take on the 13
th-ranked Florida State Seminoles Sunday at 1 p.m. (CT) at the Donald L. Tucker Center.
Samford enters the game with a record of 2-3. The Bulldogs are coming off an 83-46 loss at Belmont Tuesday evening.
Senior guard Hannah Nichols leads Samford in both scoring and rebounding, averaging 16.0 points and 6.8 rebounds per game. Olivia Crozier averages 11.0 points and 5.2 rebounds per game for the Bulldogs.
Samantha Fitzgerald scores 8.4 points and pulls down 5.2 rebounds per game. Charity Brown averages 8.0 points and 7.4 assists per game for Samford.
Florida State is currently 5-0 on the young season. The Seminoles are coming off a 101-52 win over Sacred Heart Friday afternoon.
The Seminoles have five players averaging in double figures in scoring. Shakayla Thomas averages 19.4 points per game to lead the team. Imani Wright (15.2), Nicki Ekhomu (14.4), A.J. Alix (14.4) and Chatrice White (12.0) also score in double figures for the Seminoles.
White leads FSU in rebounding, grabbing 10.0 boards per contest. Alix is the team leader in assists, dishing out 7.6 assists per game.
Samford and Florida State have met three previous times, with FSU holding a 3-0 advantage in the series. The teams last met on Nov. 11, 2012, with Florida State earning a 77-42 win over the Bulldogs in Tallahassee.
