JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – The Samford women's basketball team will play at East Tennessee State in a key Southern Conference game Thursday at 10 a.m. (CT) at Brooks Gymnasium.
 
The game is being played at 10 a.m. (CT) as an Education Day game for ETSU.
 
Samford enters the game with a record of 9-13 overall and 2-5 in Southern Conference play. The Bulldogs are coming off a 59-49 loss at Mercer Saturday afternoon.
 
Samford is led offensively by Hannah Nichols, averaging 14.3 points per game. Nichols is just 19 points away from becoming the eighth player in program history to score 1,000 points. She has now scored 981 points in her Samford career. Kassidy Blevins averages 9.9 points per game for the Bulldogs.
 
Lydia McGee is averaging 4.5 rebounds per game for Samford, playing in the last eight games after missing the first 14 games with an injury. Samantha Fitzgerald grabs 4.4 boards per contest for the Bulldogs.
 
Brittany Stevens is the team leader in assists, dishing out 2.8 assists per game. Charity Brown averages 2.5 assists per game for Samford.
 
ETSU is currently 13-9 overall and 5-2 in SoCon games. The Bucs are coming off a 77-69 win at Wofford Saturday afternoon.
 
The Bucs are led in scoring by Tianna Tarter, averaging 19.8 points per game. Shamauria Bridges averages 15.0 points per game.
 
Raven Dean leads ETSU in rebounding, grabbing 6.5 boards per contest. Tarter averages 6.0 rebounds per game.
 
Tarter is also the team leader in assists, dishing out 5.1 assists per game. Dean averages 1.1 assists per game for the Bucs.
 
Samford and ETSU will be meeting for the seventh time ever in women's basketball. Samford leads the series, 4-2. The teams met earlier this season in the Pete Hanna Center. In the Jan. 7 meeting, ETSU defeated Samford by a score of 69-57. Samford is 3-1 against ETSU in the Pete Hanna Center and 1-1 against the Bucs in Johnson City, Tenn.
