1). The Samford women's basketball team comes into Saturday's game with a record of 10-11 overall and 2-4 in Southern Conference play. The Bulldogs are coming off a 68-58 overtime loss at Chattanooga Thursday night.
2). As a team, Samford currently ranks second in the Southern Conference in three-pointers made per game (6.0), assists per game (14.7) and defensive rebound percentage (.692).
3). Individually,
Charity Brown ranks second in the Southern Conference in both assists per game (6.2) and assist-turnover ratio (1.9).
Olivia Crozier ranks second in the league in field goal percentage (.556), while
Hannah Nichols ranks third in the SoCon in blocked shots per game (1.2), rebounding (7.1) and defensive rebounds (6.4), and fifth in three-pointers made per game (1.9) and three-point percentage (.343).
4). Samford is led in scoring and rebounding by senior guard
Hannah Nichols, averaging 14.2 points and 7.1 rebounds per game. Sophomore
Olivia Crozier averages 9.7 points and 5.3 boards per contest.
5). Hannah Nichols ranks second in school history in both 3-pointers made (231) and 3-pointers attempted (628). She ranks fourth in SU history in scoring (1,349), field goals made (479), field goals attempted (1,115) and blocks (76), and she ranks eighth in rebounding (494).
ETSU
1). ETSU has a record of 12-9 overall and 5-1 in Southern Conference play. The Bucs are coming off an 85-65 loss to Mercer Thursday evening.
2). Tianna Tarter leads ETSU in scoring, averaging 16.6 points per game. Erica Haynes-Overton scores 14.5 points per game for ETSU.
3). Britney Snowden and Sadasia Tipps both average 5.0 rebounds per game to lead the squad in that category.
4). Tarter is the team leader in assists, dishing out 4.0 assists per game. Haynes-Overton averages 2.0 assists per game for the Bucs.
5). Samford and ETSU will be meeting for the ninth time ever in women's basketball. Samford leads the series, 5-3. The teams met three times last this season. ETSU won the two regular-season contests, winning by a score of 69-57 in the Pete Hanna Center, and 61-56 in Johnson City, Tenn. The teams also met in the quarterfinals of the SoCon Tournament, with Samford picking up a 67-64 win over the Bucs. Samford is 3-1 against ETSU in the Pete Hanna Center and 1-2 against the Bucs in Johnson City. Samford is 1-0 against ETSU at neutral sites.
