Women's Hoops To Play At Wofford Saturday

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Samford women's basketball team will continue its current road swing with a game at Wofford Saturday at 1 p.m. (CT) at Richardson Indoor Stadium.

SAMFORD
1). The Samford women's basketball team comes into Saturday's game with a record of 8-8 overall and 0-1 in SoCon play. The Bulldogs are coming off a 45-41 loss in the team's Southern Conference opener at Furman Thursday.
 
2). Samford is led in both scoring and rebounding by senior guard Hannah Nichols, averaging 15.3 points and 7.1 rebounds per game. Nichols has posted four-straight double-doubles entering Saturday's game, including having 13 points and 12 rebounds Thursday at Furman.
 
3). Samford sophomore Olivia Crozier is averaging 10.3 points and 5.0 rebounds per game so far this season. Sophomore Samantha Fitzgerald is averaging 8.1 points per game, while sophomore Charity Brown averages 7.7 points, 5.1 rebounds and 6.8 assists per game.

 4). Hannah Nichols ranks second in school history in both 3-pointers made (229) and 3-pointers attempted (615). She also ranks fourth in school history in scoring (1,323) and field goals made (469), while ranking fifth in blocks (72), sixth in field goals attempted (1,082) and ninth in rebounding (472).
 
5). As a team, Samford currently ranks second in the Southern Conference in both three-pointers made per game (6.3) and in assists per game (15.1). Individually, Charity Brown ranks second in the Southern Conference in both assists per game (6.8) and assist-turnover ratio (1.9). Olivia Crozier ranks second in the league in field goal percentage (.547), while Hannah Nichols ranks third in the SoCon in three-pointers made per game (2.2), fifth in three-point percentage (.368) and fifth in the league in scoring (15.3).
 
WOFFORD
1). Wofford enters Saturday's game with a record of 6-9 overall and 0-1 in SoCon play. The Terriers are coming off a 71-46 loss to Mercer Thursday.
           
2). Wofford is led in scoring by Chloe Wanink, averaging 22.1 points per game. Cairo Booker averages 10.6 points per game for the Terriers.
           
3). Marissa Bayer leads Wofford in rebounding, grabbing 6.2 boards per contest. Da'Ja Green averages 6.1 rebounds per game.
           
4). Green also leads the team in assists, dishing out 4.6 assists per game.
 
5). Samford and Wofford will be meeting for the 24th time, with the Bulldogs holding a 21-2 advantage in the series. The teams met twice last season, with Samford earning wins in both contests. Samford won the first game in Birmingham by a score of 57-54. The Bulldogs took the second meeting in Spartanburg, S.C. by a score of 76-68. The Bulldogs are 10-0 against Wofford in Birmingham, 8-2 against the Terriers in Spartanburg and 3-0 at neutral sites.
