CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Samford volleyball team defeated The Citadel 3-0 Friday night in Charleston, S.C. With the victory, the Bulldogs swept the season matchup against their conference foe and improve to 14-13 overall and 9-4 in the Southern Conference.
KEY MOMENTS
- Samford and The Citadel battled in the first set until a kill each from Taylor Anderton and Kelsi Hobbs gave the Bulldogs a 24-17 lead. Samford clinched the first set following an ace by Kelsi Hobbs.
- The Citadel had the second set at set point before Samford fought off a set point, then rattled off three straight kills to win the second set and took a commanding lead of the match.
- In the third set, Samford jumped out to an 11-4 lead early.
- The Bulldogs would push their lead out to 20-12.
- Samford's offense would continue to be dominating and they would take the set 25-12 to secure the match sweep.
