MACON, Ga. – The Samford volleyball team fell in a Southern Conference matchup on the road at Mercer. With the defeat, the Bulldogs split the season series against the Bears and fall to 14-14 and 9-5 in the Southern Conference.
KEY MOMENTS
- Samford made quick work of the first set by winning 25-20. Samford jumped out to a 21-15 lead during the set.
- Mercer won the second set by a score of 25-20 after building an 8-3 lead. Mercer would extend the lead all the way to 21-12 en route to the win.
- Samford battled back and took the third set 25-21 to take a 2-1 lead in the match.
- In the fourth set, the Bulldogs went back-and-forth with the Bears before stretching their lead to 23-20.
- Mercer evened up the score at 23 before winning three of the last four points to take the fourth set 26-24 and send the match to a fifth set.
- The fifth and final set was all Mercer. The Bears jumped out to a 9-4 lead before Mercer finished the set 15-12 and the match with the 3-2 win.
