COLUMBUS, Ohio. – The Samford men's basketball team held a three-point halftime lead Tuesday night at No. 23 Ohio State, but could not hold on as the Bulldogs dropped a 68-50 decision to the Buckeyes at Value City Arena.
The loss was the first setback of the season for Samford, as the Bulldogs fall to 5-1. Ohio State improves to 5-0 with the win.

- Myron Gordon led Samford with 18 points in the game.
- Brandon Austin and Josh Sharkey scored 11 points each.
- Robert Allen led Samford on the boards with 10 rebounds.
- Sharkey dished out five assists.
- Kaleb Wesson led Ohio State with a game-high 19 points and seven rebounds.
- Keyshawn Woods had 14 points for the Buckeyes.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- Samford got off to a hot start, racing out to an 11-4 lead with 16:55 to go in the first half following a three-pointer by Gordon.
- Ohio State scored the next seven points to tie the score at 11-11 with 13:28 left in the half.
- After Samford took a 15-11 lead, OSU went on another 7-0 run to take an 18-15 lead at the 9:01 mark in the first half.
- Samford came back to take a 22-18 lead with 6:03 left in the opening half after a jumper by Gordon.
- Ohio State came back to tie the score at 22-22, but Samford jumped back ahead at 28-24 with 3:12 to go in the half after a layup by Sharkey.
- Samford took a 32-29 lead into the locker room at halftime.
- Early in the second half, Samford pushed its lead to 35-29, but Ohio State answered with a 9-0 run to take a 38-35 lead with 13:38 left.
- With the game tied at 38-38, Ohio State went on a 12-0 run to take a 50-38 lead with 8:40 left in the game.
- Samford fought back to cut the lead to eight at 56-48 with 5:17 left after a layup by Gordon.
- Ohio State, however, closed the game with a 12-2 run to make the final score 68-50.
