BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford volleyball team swept rival Chattanooga, 3-0 (25-21, 25-12, 27-25) Wednesday night at the Pete Hanna Center. With the win, Samford improves to 15-14 overall and 10-5 in SoCon play. Chattanooga falls to 9-19 overall and 5-10 in league play.
KEY MOMENTS
- In the first set, Samford jumped out to an early 8-1 lead.
- Chattanooga fought back to cut the lead to one point at 20-19, but Samford was able to pull out the 25-21 set victory.
- Samford again grabbed an early lead in the second set, jumping out to a 10-3 advantage.
- With Samford leading, 15-8, the Bulldogs scored 10 of the next 14 points to take the 25-12 set win.
- The third set was tight throughout, and Samford trailed, 27-26, facing set point for Chattanooga.
- The Bulldogs, however, scored the next three points to take the 29-27 set win and the 3-0 match victory.
