BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford women's basketball team will host ETSU Thursday at 6 p.m. in the Pete Hanna Center. The game will mark Samford's Play4Kay game, raising money and awareness for breast cancer research, benefitting the Kay Yow Foundation. Admission to the game is FREE. SAMFORD
1). Samford enters the game with a record of 14-13 overall and 6-6 in Southern Conference play. The Bulldogs are coming off a 50-32 win at Western Carolina last Saturday.
 
2). As a team, Samford currently ranks second in the Southern Conference in three-pointers made per game (5.9). The Bulldogs also rank second in the league in assists per game (14.1), free throw percentage (.735) and defensive rebound percentage (.698). Samford ranks third in the league in scoring defense (61.4 ppg.) and assist/turnover ratio (0.9).
 
3). Individually, Charity Brown ranks second in the Southern Conference in both assists per game (5.6) and assist/turnover ratio (1.8). Olivia Crozier ranks second in the league in field goal percentage (.548), while Hannah Nichols ranks second in defensive rebounds (6.3), third in rebounds (7.2) and fifth in three-pointers made (1.8) and three-point percentage (.346).
 
4). Samford is led in scoring and rebounding by senior guard Hannah Nichols, averaging 13.0 points and 7.2 rebounds per game. Sophomore Olivia Crozier averages 9.1 points and 5.3 boards per contest.
 
5). Hannah Nichols recently set the school record for 3-pointers attempted with 647. She also ranks second in school history in 3-pointers made (238). She ranks fourth in SU history in scoring (1,403), field goals made (496), field goals attempted (1,165) and blocks (80). She ranks fifth in program history in rebounding (538).
 
ETSU
1). ETSU enters Thursday night's game with a record of 17-10 overall and 10-2 in Southern Conference play. The Bucs are coming off a 56-46 win over Furman last Saturday.
           
2). ETSU is led in scoring by Tianna Tarter, averaging 17.7 points per game. Erica Haynes-Overton averages 14.5 points per game for the Bucs.
           
3). Sedasia Tipps leads the team in rebounding, grabbing 5.3 boards per contest. Raven Dean averages 5.2 boards per contest.
           
4). Tianna Tarter is the team leader in assists, dishing out 4.4 assists per game. Erica Haynes-Overton averages 2.1 assists per contest.
 
5). Samford and ETSU will be meeting for the 10th time ever in women's basketball. Samford leads the series, 5-4. The teams met earlier this season, with ETSU earning a 76-48 win on Jan. 27 in Johnson City, Tenn. Samford is 3-1 against ETSU in the Pete Hanna Center and 1-3 against the Bucs in Johnson City. Samford is 1-0 against ETSU at neutral sites.
