CULLOWHEE, N.C. -- The Samford University basketball team opened Saturday's contest with a 8-0 lead against the Western Carolina Catamounts, but then the hometown favorites' Devin Peterson got involved with a trio of first-half 3-pointers en route to an 88-71 victory over the Bulldogs in Southern Conference play held at the Ramsey Center.

With the loss, Samford (8-17, 4-8 SoCon) fell to 1-13 in away games and continued to struggle when playing the road this season. The Bulldogs' lone road win of the 2017-18 campaign occurred at The Citadel, 107-91, on Jan. 11.
