SPARTANBURG, S.C. -- The Samford University basketball team was defeated on the road by the Wofford Terriers Wednesday, 92-79, in a Southern Conference matchup held at the Jerry Richardson Indoor Stadium.

Samford (8-18, 4-9 SoCon) used a 10-0 run and 14 points from senior Demetrius Denzel-Dyson to take a 45-40 halftime advantage over Wofford (17-8, 8-4 SoCon). Unfortunately, the Terriers' junior sharpshooter Fletcher Magee caught fire in the second half as Wofford outscored the Bulldogs, 52-34, in the final period en route to its win.

Magee finished the contest with a game-high 27 points on 10-of-17 shooting from the floor, while sophomore Nathan Hoover connected on five 3-point baskets for 23 points of his own.

Wofford shot 57.4 percent from the field and 48.3 percent from beyond the arc. Samford turned in a 45.8-percent tally from the floor and a 39.3 percentage from 3-point range.

The Bulldogs were led in scoring by Denzel-Dyson with 17 points. Senior center Eric Adams added 16 points and four rebounds, while not missing a single shot in the contest. Adams finished 6-for-6 from the free-throw line and 5-of-5 from the field.

Samford's Triston Chambers (13), Justin Coleman (13) and Josh Sharkey (10) all scored in double figures Wednesday. Coleman nearly tallied a double-double with nine assists, as Sharkey chipped in with six of his own. The Bulldogs' pair of talented point guards are ranked No. 1 and No. 2 in the SoCon in assists this season, with Coleman leading the way with 152.

Samford led by nine points early in the second half, 49-40, but the Terriers drained a trio of consecutive 3-point baskets to tie the game at 49-49 and shift the momentum of the contest. Wofford went on to outscore the Bulldogs, 43-30, down the stretch.

The Terriers outrebounded Samford, 36-25, but the Bulldogs won the battle of points in the paint, 28-24. Wofford outscored Samford in fastbreak points, 19-7.
