Women's Basketball Travels To SoCon-Leading Mercer Saturday

MACON, Ga. – The Samford women's basketball team will travel to Macon, Ga., to take on Southern Conference-leading Mercer Saturday at 1 p.m. (CT) at Hawkins Arena. Below are links to follow the game online.

SAMFORD
1). The Samford women's basketball team comes into Saturday's game with a record of 12-12 overall and 4-5 in Southern Conference play. The Bulldogs are coming off 62-58 overtime win over Furman last Saturday.
 
2). As a team, Samford currently leads the Southern Conference in three-pointers made per game (6.1). The Bulldogs also rank second in the league in assists per game (14.6).
 
3). Individually, Charity Brown ranks second in the Southern Conference in both assists per game (6.1) and assist-turnover ratio (2.0). Olivia Crozier ranks second in the league in field goal percentage (.568), while Hannah Nichols ranks third in rebounds (6.9) and defensive rebounds (6.1),  and fifth in blocked shots per game (1.0), three-pointers made (1.9) and three-point percentage (.353).
 
4). Samford is led in scoring and rebounding by senior guard Hannah Nichols, averaging 13.5 points and 6.9 rebounds per game. Sophomore Olivia Crozier averages 9.6 points and 5.3 boards per contest.
 
5). Hannah Nichols ranks second in school history in both 3-pointers made (235) and 3-pointers attempted (636). She ranks fourth in SU history in scoring (1,377), field goals made (487), field goals attempted (1,138) and blocks (77), and she ranks eighth in rebounding (511).
 
MERCER
1). Mercer has a record of 22-2 overall and 9-0 in the Southern Conference. The Bears are coming off an 80-39 win over Wofford last Saturday.
           
2). Mercer is led in scoring by Kahlia Lawrence, averaging 19.4 points per game. KeKe Calloway scores 17.8 points per game for the Bears.
           
3). Amanda Thompson is the team leader in rebounding, grabbing 6.7 boards per contest. Lawrence averages 5.3 rebounds per game for Mercer.
           
4). Sydni Means leads Mercer and the SoCon in assists, dishing out 8.3 assists per game. Lawrence averages 2.3 assists per game.
 
5). Samford and Mercer will be meeting for the 21st time, with Mercer holding a 15-5 advantage in the series. The teams met earlier this season on Jan. 13 in the Pete Hanna Center. Mercer won that earlier meeting by a score of 73-59. The teams were co-members of the Atlantic Sun Conference from 1997 until 2003.
