GAME NOTES
MACON, Ga. – The Samford softball team will play a key Southern Conference series at Mercer this weekend. The teams are scheduled to play a doubleheader Saturday at 12 p.m. (CT), and a single game Sunday, also at 12 p.m. (CT).
Samford enters the weekend with a record of 15-31 overall and 4-4 in SoCon play. The Bulldogs split a non-conference doubleheader with Austin Peay Wednesday, dropping the first game, 4-1, before taking game two, 8-4.
For Samford this season, senior center fielder
Shelby Maze leads the team with a .421 batting average with three doubles, two triples, nine RBI and a team-high 31 runs scored.
Kelsey Royalty has a .282 average with seven doubles, two home runs and 18 RBI.
Hannah Trombley is hitting .281 with four home runs and 24 RBI.
Whitney Hinton leads the team in home runs with six, and is tied with Trombley for the team lead in RBI with 24.
Madison Couch and
Lexie Higgins have five homers each.

McKenna Gillespie has a team-best 4.02 ERA, to go along with her 3-7 record.
Taylor DeCelles leads the team in wins with a 6-12 record and a 5.69 ERA, while
Annalyn Yantis has a mark of 4-11, to go along with her 4.69 ERA.
Emily Barnett has a 2-1 record and an 8.46 ERA.
Mercer is currently 28-13 overall and 7-1 in SoCon play. The Bears are coming off a 7-0 win over Alabama State Wednesday.
Samford and Mercer have met 64 previous times, with Samford leading the series, 36-28. The teams met five times last season. Samford won two-of-three regular-season meetings. The team also met twice in the SoCon Tournament, with Mercer winning an opening-round game, 5-3, but Samford coming back to eliminate the Bears in the semifinals, 4-3.
