DENVER, Colo. – The Samford University volleyball team split its two matches in the Denver Challenge Saturday. The Bulldogs earned a 3-0 win over Maryland Eastern Shore, before falling to Denver, 3-1. With the split, Samford is now 5-9 so far this season.

KEY MOMENTS
- In the first set, with the score tied at 6-6, Samford went on a 14-4 run to take a 20-10 lead.
- Samford cruised to the 25-12 set win.
- In the second set, UMES grabbed a five-point lead at 11-6.
- With UMES leading, 20-15, Samford came back with an 11-4 run to take the 26-24 win.
- In the third set, the score was tight early until Samford was able to take a 15-10 lead.
- The Bulldogs led by as many as six at 23-17, and Samford finished with a 25-20 set win and a 3-0 match victory.

- In the first set, Samford jumped out to an early 7-3 lead, but Denver fought back to take a 12-9 advantage.
- Samford answered with an 11-5 run to take a 20-17 lead, and Samford went on to take the set, 25-19.
- The second set was tight until, with the score tied at 12-12, Denver went on a 9-1 run to take a 21-13 lead.
- Samford fought back to cut the lead to four at 22-18, but the Bulldogs could get no closer as they eventually fell, 25-20.
- In the third set, Samford grabbed a 16-13 lead, but Denver came back to take a 21-18 advantage.
- After Samford came back to tie the score at 22-22, the teams traded points until, Denver finally pulled out the 36-34 win.
- In the fourth set, after a tight early score, Denver was able to claim a 20-12 lead.
- Samford could get no closer as Denver pulled out the 25-14 set win and the 3-1 match victory.
