Armstrong's Career High Leads WBB To 75-42 Win At WCU

CULLOWHEE, N.C. –
Natalie Armstrong scored a career-high 21 points to lead four players in double figures in leading the Samford women's basketball team to a dominating 75-42 Southern Conference road win at Western Carolina Saturday afternoon at the Ramsey Center.
 
With the win, Samford improves to 6-12 overall and 1-2 in SoCon play. Western Carolina falls to 3-15 overall and 0-4 in league play.

  • Armstrong made an impressive 10-of-11 shots from the floor. She also grabbed 10 rebounds for her third double-double of the season.
  • Behind Armstrong for Samford, Ta'Naisha Hill had 13 points and four assists.
  • Shauntai Battle and Katie Allen scored 11 points each for Samford.
  • For Western Carolina, A. Allen led the way with 16 points.
 
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
  • Samford fell behind early, 5-2, but the Bulldogs answered with a 9-2 run to take an 11-7 lead with 4:48 to go in the first quarter after a three-pointer by Hill.
  • The Bulldogs held a 16-13 advantage at the end of the first quarter.
  • Samford opened the second quarter with a 16-3 run to take a 32-16 lead over the Catamounts.
  • The Bulldogs stretched their lead to 20 points at 38-18, and the team took a 40-20 lead into the locker room at halftime.
  • Samford raced out to a 52-25 lead with 5:57 left in the third quarter after a three-pointer by Charity Brown.
  • The Bulldogs led be as many as 31 points in the third quarter at 60-29 with 1:34 left in the period after a three-pointer by Paige Serup.
  • Samford carried the 60-29 advantage into the fourth quarter.
  • Samford stretched its lead to 40 points at 73-33 with 5:04 left in the game on a three-pointer by Cassidy Williams.
  • Samford came away with the 75-42 victory, the team's first win in SoCon play.
