CULLOWHEE, N.C. – The Samford volleyball team earned a 3-0 (25-20, 25-23, 25-18) win over Western Carolina Friday evening at the Ramsey Center.
 
The Samford win sets up a match for the Southern Conference regular-season title Saturday night at ETSU. Samford improves to 20-5 overall and 14-1 in SoCon matches. Western Carolina falls to 17-12 overall and 11-5 in league matches.

KEY MOMENTS

• The score was tight early in the first set until Samford was able to extend to a 16-10 advantage.
• WCU fought back to cut the lead to 17-14, but the Bulldogs were able to extend to a 20-14 lead, and Samford took the set, 25-20.
• In the second set, Samford was able to build a 15-13 lead.
• After WCU tied the score at 15-15, Samford used a 6-1 run to take a 21-16 lead.
• Western cut the lead to 24-23, but the Bulldogs closed out the 25-23 set win with a kill by Briana Holmes.
• Samford took an early 7-4 lead in the third set, but Western scored the next two points to cut the lead to 7-6.
• The Bulldogs built a 15-9 lead, and Samford took the set, 25-18, and the match, 3-0.
