JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – The Samford volleyball team secured the Southern Conference's regular season championship with a 3-1 win at ETSU Saturday evening.
With the win, Samford improves to 21-5 overall and 15-1 in Southern Conference play. The 15-1 SoCon record is the best record in conference play in program history. The win is the ninth-straight victory for Samford. ETSU falls to 23-5 overall and 14-2 in league matches.

KEY MOMENTS
- ETSU jumped out to a 10-7 lead in the first set.
- Samford answered with a 9-2 run to take a 16-12 advantage.
- The Bulldogs built a 23-16 lead and held on for the 25-20 set win.
- In the second set, Samford took an early 5-2 lead.
- The Bulldogs extended their lead to 20-11, and Samford took the second set, 25-14.
- In the third set, ETSU took an 11-6 advantage.
- The Bucs built their lead to six at 17-11.
- Samford fought back to cut the lead to one at 24-23, but ETSU closed out the 25-23 win.
- In the fourth set, Samford fell behind, 9-5.
- The Bulldogs, however, fought back to take a 17-16 lead.
- The teams traded the next several points, until Samford was able to take a 24-22 lead.
- With Samford leading, 24-23, a kill by Kelsi Hobbs gave Samford the 25-23 set win and the 3-1 match victory.

The Southern Conference Tournament will be held Friday through Sunday at Wofford's Richardson Indoor Stadium. Samford will be the No. 1 seed in the tournament. The pairings will be announced later tonight.
