BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford men's basketball team dropped a 61-55 defensive battle to in-state foe North Alabama Saturday night at Flowers Hall.
 
The setback drops the Bulldogs to 2-3 on the young season as North Alabama improved to 2-2.

• Robert Allen continued his torrent start to the season with another stellar effort. Allen tallied 17 points while adding 12 boards for the Bulldogs.
• Jalen Dupree was strong down low for Samford as he netted a game-high 18 points.
• Brandon Austin (seven points, six rebounds) and Deandre Thomas (five points, six rebounds) each contributed for the Bulldogs in the contest.

 
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
 

• Samford carried a 25-24 lead into halftime despite shooting just 41% from the floor. Dupree tossed in 11 points in the opening stanza.
• Allen dropped five consecutive points with just under five minutes to play to vault the Bulldogs into the lead, before ultimately falling down the stretch.
