BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford men's basketball team picked up an impressive 70-57 win over the Manhattan College Jaspers Tuesday night in the Pete Hanna Center.
 
With the win, Samford improves to 3-3 on the season. Manhattan falls to 2-1 with the loss.

• Josh Sharkey led Samford with 17 points and eight assists in the win.
• Jalen Dupree and Brandon Austin scored 15 points each.
• Robert Allen added seven points for Samford.
• Tykei Greene led Manhattan with 13 points and eight rebounds.

 
GAME HIGHLIGHTS

• The game was tight in the first half until, with Manhattan leading, 15-14, Samford went on a 9-2 run to take a 23-15 lead with 7:02 left in the first half after a put-back layup by Donte Tatum.
• Manhattan fought back to cut the lead to 23-22 with 5:12 left in the half after a three-pointer by Samir Stewart.
• Samford responded with an 11-0 run to close the half and take a 34-22 lead following a three-pointer by Logan Padgett at the first-half buzzer.
• Samford built its lead to 15 points at 51-36 with 11:33 left in the second half after a three-pointer by Austin.
• Manhattan came back to cut the lead to seven at 53-46 with 6:34 to go following a layup by Elijah Buchanan.
• After Samford pushed the lead back out to 13 points, the Jaspers came back to close to within six points at 61-55 with 2:24 to go after a dunk by Warren Williams.
• Samford, however, was able to pull away down the stretch for the 70-57 win.
