FLORENCE, Ala. – The Samford women's basketball team picked up its first road win of the season with an impressive 79-63 win at North Alabama Wednesday afternoon at Flowers Hall.
 
With the win, Samford improves to 2-6 on the young season. North Alabama is now 3-2.

• Natalie Armstrong turned in a dominating performance, scoring 24 points and grabbing 14 rebounds.
• Shauntai Battle scored 16 points for the Bulldogs.
• Olivia Crozier added 10 points for Samford.
• Charity Brown dished out six assists in the win.

 
GAME HIGHLIGHTS

• Samford got off to a hot start, scoring the first 11 points of the game.
• North Alabama answered with an 11-2 run to cut the lead to 13-11, and a late basket by Samford's Katie Allen gave the Bulldogs a 15-11 lead at the end of the first quarter.
• UNA fought back to tie the game at 22-22 early in the second quarter, but Samford answered with a 7-0 run to take a 29-22 lead with 5:17 to go in the second quarter after a basket by Sarah Myers.
• With Samford leading 34-26, the Bulldogs closed the quarter with an 8-0 run to take a 42-26 lead into the locker room at halftime.
• Samford pushed its lead to 18 points at 44-26 early in the third quarter.
• UNA, however, fought back to cut the lead to six at 49-43 with 1:36 left in the third quarter.
• Samford led, 52-45 heading to the fourth quarter.
• Samford controlled the fourth quarter.
• The Bulldogs led by as many as 18 points in the period at 79-81, and Samford finished with the 79-63 win.
