MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Samford women's basketball team led almost from start to finish as the Bulldogs earned a dominating 83-48 win at Alabama State Sunday afternoon at the Dunn-Oliver Acadome.
 
With the win, Samford improves to 3-6 on the season. Alabama State falls to 3-3 with the loss.

• Sarah Myers led Samford with 17 points and eight rebounds.
• Katie Allen had 15 points.
• Natalie Armstrong followed with 12 points.
• Charity Brown dished out seven assists, while Raven Omar had six assists.

 
 GAME HIGHLIGHTS

• After falling behind, 5-4 early, Samford went on a 9-2 run to take a 13-7 lead with 4:13 to go in the first quarter after a layup by Olivia Crozier.
• Samford held a 16-11 lead at the end of the first quarter.
• Samford opened the second quarter on a 15-2 run to take a 31-13 lead with 5:14 to go in the quarter after a basket by Myers.
• The Bulldogs held a 37-17 lead heading into the locker room at halftime.
• Samford scored the first 11 points of the third quarter to stretch its lead to 48-17 with 6:07 left in the quarter after a three-pointer by Samantha Fitzgerald.
• The Bulldogs led, 63-25 at the end of the third quarter.
• Samford maintained its lead throughout the fourth quarter coming away with the 83-48 win.
