KENNESAW, Ga. – The Samford women's basketball team dropped a 60-55 decision at Kennesaw State Saturday afternoon.
 
With the loss, Samford falls to 1-1 on the young season. Kennesaw State is also 1-1.

• Sarah Myers led Samford with 14 points and seven rebounds.
• Samantha Fitzgerald scored 11 points for the Bulldogs.
• Charity Brown added seven points for Samford.

 
GAME HIGHLIGHTS

• In the first quarter, Kennesaw State jumped out to an early 9-3 lead with 5:43 left in the period after a jumper by Carlotta Gianolla.
• The Owls held a 14-10 advantage at the end of the first quarter.
• Samford fought back to tie the game at 20-20 with 2:27 left in the second quarter after a jumper by Raven Omar.
• Kennesaw State took a 25-22 lead into the locker room at halftime.
• With Samford trailing, 27-26, KSU went on a 7-0 run to take a 34-26 lead with 5:54 left in the third quarter after a three-point play by Alexis Poole.
• Samford closed the lead to four points at 37-33 late in the quarter, and KSU led, 39-33 at the end of the third period.
• Kennesaw State built its lead to 12 points at 45-33 with 8:37 left in fourth quarter.
• Samford cut the lead to five at 53-48, but the Bulldogs could get no closer and the team eventually fell, 60-55.
