Men's Basketball Picks Up 97-64 Win Over AUM

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. –
The Samford men's basketball team earned a 97-64 win over the Auburn Montgomery Warhawks Tuesday evening in the Pete Hanna Center.
 
With the win, Samford improves to 5-5 on the season. AUM's record remains 6-4 as the game counted as an exhibition for the Warhawks.


 
FROM THE BOX SCORE
  • Josh Sharkey tied his career high with 27 points. He also dished out nine assists in the win.
  • Logan Dye also tied his career high with 14 points for the Bulldogs.
  • Jalen Dupree had 12 points and eight rebounds.
  • Robert Allen added 11 points for Samford.
  • Brandon Austin tied a career high with 10 rebounds as well.
 
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
  • AUM jumped out to an early 5-2 lead with 16:43 to go in the first half after a three-pointer by Stanley Davis.
  • Samford fought back to tie the score at 13-13 with 10:22 left in the half after a three-pointer by Sharkey.
  • With Samford trailing, 15-13, the Bulldogs went on an 8-0 run to take a 21-15 lead with 7:12 left in the first half after two free throws by DeAndre Thomas.
  • Samford built its lead out to 12 points at 29-17 with 3:01 left in the first half after a layup by Sharkey.
  • Samford held a 36-22 lead heading into the locker room at halftime.
  • Samford pushed its lead to 26 points at 52-28 with 15:30 left in the second half after a layup by Thomas.
  • The Bulldogs' lead reached 30 points at 64-34 with 11:37 left after a layup by Donte Tatum.
  • Samford led by as many as 35 points in the second half and the Bulldogs came away with the 97-64 victory.
