BIRMINGHAM, Ala. –
Ta'Naisha Hill knocked down a pair of threes late in the fourth quarter to lift the Samford University women's basketball team to a 57-53 Southern Conference win over UNCG in the Pete Hanna Center Saturday afternoon.
With the win, Samford improves to 9-16 overall and 4-6 in the SoCon. UNCG slips to 9-17 overall and 3-8 in league play.

- Hill finished the game with a game-high and career-high 26 points after going 6-of-12 from the field and 12-of-13 from the free throw line.
- It was her third 20 point game in her career.
- She was the lone Bulldog in double figures.
- She also accounted for 12 of Samford's final 14 points from the 3:49 mark in the fourth.
- Te'ja Twitty led the Spartans with 14 points and 14 rebounds.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- UNCG opened an early seven point lead in the first period, 11-4, but Samford fought back cutting the deficit to two, 11-9, by the end of the first period.
- The Bulldogs took four and a half minutes into the second period before taking their first lead of the game, 18-17, on a pair of Katie Allen free throws.
- Samford stretched the lead out to four twice, 21-17, and 26-22, but the Spartans' Amesha Miller converted a three-point play with 1:23 left to play in the half cutting the Samford lead down to 26-25 at the break.
- The Spartans came out and took a six-point lead, 34-28, with 7:30 left to play in the frame.
- UNCG stayed just out of reach in the period but a Hill jumper with 51 seconds left cut the margin down to 39-38 before the final 10 minutes.
- The fourth was all Samford with the Bulldogs outscoring the Spartans 19-14 including 14 by Hill.
- With 6:02 left and Samford trailing by three, Hill flipped the margin giving Samford a 51-48 lead with 1:34 left to play by scoring the next 10 Bulldog points.

- Samford will go on the road at Chattanooga on Thursday, Feb. 21. The game is scheduled for a 6 p.m. and will be broadcast on ESPN+.
