JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – The Samford women's basketball team fell at ETSU by a score of 71-50 Saturday afternoon at Brooks Gymnasium.
 
With the loss, Samford falls to 9-18 overall and 4-8 in Southern Conference play. ETSU improves to 8-20 overall and 6-6 in league contests.

• Shauntai Battle had 17 points and seven rebounds to lead Samford.
• Cassidy Williams added 10 points for the Bulldogs.
• Britney Snowden and Erica Haynes-Overton led ETSU with 16 points each.
• Micah Sheetz had 11 points for the Bucs.

 
GAME HIGHLIGHTS

• Samford jumped out to an early 8-1 lead with 5:03 to go in the first quarter after a layup by Natalie Armstrong.
• ETSU closed the first quarter with a 12-4 run to take a 13-12 lead at the end of the first period.
• With ETSU leading, 16-13, the Bucs went on a 14-2 run to take a 30-15 lead with 3:42 left in the second quarter.
• ETSU took a 35-21 lead into the locker room at halftime.
• The Bucs extended their lead to 42-21 early in the third quarter.
• With ETSU leading, 48-29, the Bucs scored the final seven points of the period to push their lead to 55-29.
• Samford could get no closer than 18 points in the fourth quarter as ETSU came away with the 71-50 victory.
