Women's Basketball Falls At Home To Furman

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. –
The Samford women's basketball team dropped a 74-41 decision to Furman Saturday afternoon in the Pete Hanna Center.
 
With the loss, Samford ends its regular season with a mark of 10-19 overall and 5-9 in Southern Conference play. Furman improves to 17-12 overall and 9-5 in league games.

  • Raven Omar led Samford with 14 points.
  • Natalie Armstrong added eight points for the Bulldogs.
  • Furman was led by Le'Jzae Davidson with 17 points.
  • Tierra Hodges scored 15 points, while Celena Taborn added 14 points for the Paladins.
 
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
  • Samford jumped out to an early 7-2 lead with 6:57 to go in the first quarter after a three-pointer by Ta'Naisha Hill.
  • Furman came back to take a 10-9 lead late in the quarter, but a three-pointer by Raven Omar at the first-quarter buzzer gave Samford a 12-10 lead at the end of the period.
  • The teams traded baskets early in the second quarter until Furman went on a 10-0 run to take a 29-19 lead with 2:51 left in the quarter.
  • Furman held a 33-21 advantage heading into the locker room at halftime.
  • After Samford cut the Furman lead to 10 at 33-23 early in the third quarter, Furman went on a 19-4 run to push its lead to 52-27 with 3:59 left in the third quarter.
  • Furman held a 58-34 lead at the end of the third quarter.
  • Furman pushed its lead to 30 points at 64-34 with 7:02 left in the game.
  • The Paladins led by as many as 33 points in the fourth quarter and finished with the 74-41 win.
