Jordan Fucci was named the Southern Conference's Player of the Week when the league released its weekly baseball honors Monday afternoon.
Fucci hit an impressive .611 (11-of-18) with five doubles, a triple, a home run, three RBI and seven runs scored in the Bulldogs' four games last week. He had at least two hits in every game last week.
Against No. 2-ranked Mississippi State, Fucci went 3-for-5 with a home run and two RBI. In the three-game series sweep of Furman, he went a combined 8-of-13 with five doubles and a triple. His best game of the series came in game two when he went 4-for-5 with three doubles.
For the season, Fucci is batting .310 with seven doubles, three home runs and 14 RBI. He has a .524 slugging percentage for the season as well.
Samford will play at UAB Tuesday night at Regions Field. The game is scheduled for a 6:30 p.m. start.
