BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Samford volleyball team dropped a 3-1 (25-27, 19-25, 25-23, 16-25) decision to Tulsa in the first round of the Western Kentucky Invitational Friday afternoon. The loss ends a six-match win streak for Samford.

• In the first set, Tulsa grabbed an early 7-5 lead over Samford.
• Samford fought back to take a 15-12 advantage.
• With Samford leading, 23-19, Tulsa fought back to tie the score at 24-24, and Tulsa took the first set, 27-25.
• In the second set, Samford grabbed a 12-7 lead.
• Tulsa, however, answered with an 8-0 run to take a 15-12 advantage.
• Tulsa took the second set by a score of 25-19.
• Samford built a 16-10 lead in the third set.
• The Bulldogs led by as many as seven points at 20-13.
• Tulsa fought back to make it a closer set, but the Bulldogs hung on to win, 25-23.
• In the fourth set, Tulsa jumped out to a 13-7 lead.
• Samford could get no closer than four points the rest of the way, and Tulsa took the set, 25-16, and the match, 3-1.

• Lauren Deaton led Samford with 20 kills and seven digs.
• Kelsi Hobbs tallied 17 kills and eight digs.
• Grace Tiesman contributed 11 kills and 15 digs for Samford.
• Corinne Meglic had 47 assists in the loss for the Bulldogs.

Samford (6-2) will play a pair of matches Saturday to wrap up the WKU Invitational. The Bulldogs will take on Northern Kentucky at 10 a.m., and Western Kentucky at 5 p.m.
