Men's Hoops Falls On The Road At Furman

GREENVILLE, S.C. –
The Samford men's basketball team fell at Furman, 101-78, in Southern Conference action Wednesday night at Timmons Arena.
 
With the loss, Samford falls to 8-13 overall and 2-5 in SoCon play. Furman improves to 16-5 overall and 6-2 in league play.
 
FROM THE BOX SCORE
  • Josh Sharkey had 24 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists to lead Samford in the game.
  • Jalen Dupree tied his career high with 23 points, while grabbing seven rebounds.
  • Brandon Austin added 13 points for the Bulldogs.
  • Furman was led by Jordan Lyons with 21 points.
 
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
  • Furman started the game off hot jumping out to a 20-6 lead with 14:27 left in the first half after a three-pointer by Jalen Slawson.
  • Samford fought back to cut the lead to seven at 22-15 with 11:22 to go in the half after a three-point play by Sharkey.
  • Furman answered with a 7-0 run of its own to push the lead back out to 14 points at 29-15 with 8:30 to go in the half after a pair of free throws by Mike Bothwell.
  • Furman led by as many as 22 points in the first half, and the Paladins took a 49-30 lead into the locker room at halftime.
  • Furman pushed its lead out to 27 points at 63-36 with 17:13 to go after a three-pointer by Alex Hunter.
  • Samford fought back to cut the lead to 18 points at 69-51 with 13:37 left after a three-pointer by Austin.
  • Furman stretched its lead to 31 points in the second half and the Paladins came away with the 101-78 win.
