Baseball's Diamond Society Holds Sixth-Annual First Pitch Dinner

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.. – The Samford baseball program's Diamond Society held its sixth-annual First Pitch Dinner Thursday night at Cooney Hall at the Brock School of Business.
The event is held each year just before the start of the season for the Diamond Society, which is the booster club for the Samford baseball program. The featured speaker for this year's event was former Major League Baseball star Travis Fryman.
"This is an opportunity for us to thank those who have given so much to this program," Samford head coach Casey Dunn said. "We rely on people in this community to support us both financially and with their attendance. So, to have the opportunity to do something special for them, to allow them to interact with our players and thank them for their support is important to us."
The evening started at 6 p.m. with a meet-and-greet with Fryman for members of the Diamond Society. After Dunn welcomed everyone, a dinner was served.
Following the meal, Fryman spoke to the crowd. A full room was on hand to hear the former MLB All-Star speak.
Established in 2016, the Diamond Society provides direct financial support for the Samford baseball program. Diamond Society members receive various benefits including season ticket passes, exclusive access to special events and content, and apparel.

Samford will open the 2020 season by hosting a three-game series with UNC Asheville Feb. 14-16. The teams are scheduled to play Friday at 4 p.m., Saturday at 1 p.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m. Season tickets are available online at www.samfordsports.com.
