Samford Women’s Basketball Releases 2020-21 Schedule

2020-21 WBB SCHEDULE

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford women's basketball team has released its 2020-21 schedule, Head Coach Carley Kuhns announced Friday.

"We are so excited about the opportunity to compete this season," Kuhns said. "With all the challenges we are facing these days; it will be nice to have the opportunity to play. We have a difficult schedule we are looking to play this season."

In addition to the 23-game schedule released Friday, the team plans to add two more games before the season starts to be able to play a full 25-game regular season. The schedule is highlighted by games at SEC foes Auburn, Kentucky and Vanderbilt, as well as the always-tough SoCon schedule. Kuhns said she hopes playing a tough non-conference slate will prepare her team for SoCon play.

"We play teams such as Kentucky, Vanderbilt and Auburn as well as some really successful mid major programs in Western Kentucky, UT Martin and Tennessee Tech," Kuhns said. "We have had to be flexible in changing games and dates, but the most important thing is getting in as many games as possible in the non-conference for our team. We tried to find a healthy mix of high-level teams, athletic teams and skilled teams to be as prepared as possible going into conference play."

Samford will open the season with a game at Auburn Nov. 28. The team's home opener is scheduled for Dec. 8 against UT Martin, followed by a home contest against North Alabama Dec. 11.

Samford will then go on the road for five-straight contests. In the stretch, Samford will play at Kentucky (Dec. 13), Jacksonville State (Dec. 16), Tennessee Tech (Dec. 19), Western Kentucky (Dec. 21) and Vanderbilt (Dec. 28).

The Bulldogs will wrap up non-conference play with a home game against Auburn-Montgomery Dec. 30.

"Our conference play will be strong as always," Kuhns said. "Numerous talented players in our league will be returning and I'm sure they have only gotten better. We are looking forward to getting back all of the fans that were in the Pete last year who rallied around our program."

Kuhns is entering her second season in charge of the program. In her first season, she led the program to a share of its first SoCon regular season championship, as well as the SoCon Tournament title.

Samford opens Southern Conference play with a home game against Western Carolina Jan. 7. The Bulldogs will then host UNC Greensboro Jan. 9. Samford will then play its next three games on the road, playing at Chattanooga (Jan. 14), ETSU (Jan. 16) and Mercer (Jan. 23).

The Bulldogs will then host Wofford Jan. 28 and Furman Jan. 30. Next up, Samford will play at UNC Greensboro Feb. 4 and Western Carolina Feb. 6. Samford will play its next three games at home, hosting ETSU (Feb. 11), Chattanooga (Feb. 13) and Mercer (Feb. 20).

Samford will wrap up the regular season with a pair of road games. The Bulldogs will play at Furman Feb. 25 and at Wofford Feb. 27. The Southern Conference Tournament is scheduled for Mar. 3-7 in Asheville, N.C.
