SAMFORD AT AUBURN GAME NOTES
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford women's basketball team will play its second-straight SEC opponent when the Bulldogs play at Auburn Saturday at 6 p.m. at Auburn Arena.

Samford enters the game with a record of 0-1 after an 83-68 loss at Alabama Wednesday afternoon. Auburn is currently 1-0 after an 82-41 win over USC Upstate Wednesday evening.
Samford and Auburn are meeting for just the fourth time, with Auburn holding a 3-0 advantage in the series. The teams last met on Dec. 16, 2018, when the Tigers picked up a 73-46 win over the Bulldogs. Auburn is one of four SEC teams Samford will play this season, as the Bulldogs have already faced Alabama and have upcoming games with Kentucky and Vanderbilt.

ARMSTRONG POSTS DOUBLE-DOUBLE: In Samford's season opener at Alabama Wednesday, senior
Natalie Armstrong posted a double-double with 25 points and 10 rebounds. The Norcross, Ga., native made 10-of-17 shots from the floor, including 5-of-6 from three-point range.
BATTLE POSTS CAREER HIGH IN SEASON OPENER: Senior
Shauntai Battle turned in a career high in Wednesday's season opener at Alabama. The Mobile, Ala., product scored 21 points, besting her previous career high of 20, set at Western Carolina last season.
FAMILIAR NAME: The last name Battle is a familiar name to Auburn basketball fans. Samford senior
Shauntai Battle's father, Ronnie, was an All-SEC guard at Auburn, playing for the Tigers from 1989-93. This marks the second time the younger Battle has played at Auburn, as she was on the Samford team that took on the Tigers in December of 2018. In that game, Battle scored 11 points for the Bulldogs.
WHAT'S RETURNING: This season, Samford returns two of the team's five starters and six of the 13 letterwinners from last season's SoCon championship team. Samford returns 42.1 percent of its scoring and 33.8 percent of its rebounding from last season.
ARMSTRONG NEARS CAREER MILESTONE: Natalie Armstrong enters this game with 908 career points, leaving her just 92 points shy of becoming just the ninth player in program history to score 1,000 points in their careers.
SAMFORD VERSUS SEC OPPONENTS: Samford has an all-time record of 6-24 against the current members of the Southeastern Conference, including an 0-3 mark against Auburn. The Bulldogs have also faced the following SEC foes: Alabama (2-8), Arkansas (0-1), Florida (0-2), Georgia (1-0), Kentucky (0-3), LSU (1-1), Mississippi State (0-2), Missouri (1-0), Ole Miss (1-0), South Carolina (0-1) and Vanderbilt (0-3).
NEWCOMERS: Samford welcomes six newcomers to this year's squad, including four freshmen and two transfers. The transfers are
Andrea Cournoyer (Jr., G, Louisiana-Lafayette) and
Annie Ramil (Jr., F, Binghamton University). The freshman signees include
Mallory Hampton (G, Evensville, Tenn.),
Katie Jones (G, Decatur, Ala.),
Jaden Langford (G, Madison, Ala.) and
Kiersten Nelson (F, New Orleans, La.).
SAMFORD AWAY FROM HOME: This season, Samford has 15 games
on its schedule set to be played away from the Pete Hanna Center, and the Bulldogs are currently 0-1 in those contests. Last season, Samford was 12-9 away from the friendly confines of the Pete Hanna Center, including an 8-9 mark in true road games and 4-0 in neutral-site contests.
SAMFORD AGAINST IN-STATE TEAMS: Samford has an all-time
record of 60-51 against teams from the state of Alabama, including an 0-3 mark against the Auburn University.
