BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford women's basketball team will travel to Lexington, Ky., to take on the ninth-ranked Kentucky Wildcats Sunday at 1 p.m. (CT).

Samford has a record of 1-4, coming off a 79-66 win over North Alabama Friday night. Kentucky has a mark of 5-0. The Wildcats are coming off a 79-45 win over Marshall Wednesday evening.
Samford and Kentucky have met three times in women's basketball, with the Wildcats winning all three previous meetings. The teams last met on Dec. 8, 2019, with Kentucky earning a 79-49 victory over Samford. The first meeting in the series was played on Dec. 21, 2011, with UK picking up a 90-61 win.

ARMSTRONG PICKS UP WHERE SHE LEFT OFF: Samford senior center
Natalie Armstrong has picked up right where she left off last season. Through five games so far this season, Armstrong is averaging 13.5 points and 5.8 rebounds per game. She had 25 points and 10 rebounds in the season opener at Alabama, and then turned in 10 points and six rebounds at Auburn. She also had 15 points and five rebounds against North Alabama,
COURNOYER BRINGS A SPARK: After missing the first three games of the season with an injury, junior
Andrea Cournoyer has provided a needed spark for the Bulldogs in the last two games. The Louisiana transfer led the team with 18 points in her Samford debut against UT Martin. She then had 19 points in a win over North Alabama.
ARMSTRONG NEARS CAREER MILESTONE: Natalie Armstrong enters this game with 937 career points, leaving her just 63 points shy of becoming just the ninth player in program history to score 1,000 points in their careers. Her 937 career points rank ninth in school history.
OMAR LEADING THE SOCON: Entering this game, Samford senior guard
Raven Omar is leading the Southern Conference in assists, dishing out 5.2 assists per game. Through the first five games of the season, Omar has had at least five assists in three of those contests. She had five assists against Alabama, a career-high eight assists against Auburn, and eight again versus North Alabama.
