Women’s Basketball Continues Road Swing With Two Games At Chattanooga

GAME NOTES: SAMFORD AT CHATTANOOGA

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. –
The Samford women's basketball team will continue its current four-game road swing at Chattanooga Thursday at 6 p.m. (CT) and Saturday at 4 p.m. (CT), both at McKenzie Arena.

Samford enters this week's games with a record of 6-6 overall and 3-0 in Southern Conference play after a 64-47 win at Western Carolina Saturday. Chattanooga is currently 7-5 overall and 2-1 in league play after a 52-46 loss at Furman Saturday.
 
Samford and Chattanooga have met 33 previous times, with Chattanooga holding a 25-8 advantage in the series. The two teams met twice last season, with each team winning at home. Samford earned a 60-46 win in the Hanna Center, while Chattanooga picked up a 64-58 victory at McKenzie Arena.

RAMIL MAKES IMMEDIATE IMPACT: Samford junior forward Annie Ramil, a transfer from Binghamton University, has stepped in and made an immediate impact this season. Ramil is averaging 10.1 points per game, and she leads the team in rebounding, grabbing 7.4 boards per contest. She had a break-out game against Mercer, scoring a career-high 28 points and pulling down a career-high 15 rebounds, earning SoCon Player of the Week honors for her efforts.
 
COURNOYER BRINGS A SPARK: After missing the first three games of the season with an injury, junior Andrea Cournoyer has provided a needed spark for the Bulldogs in the last nine games. The Louisiana transfer is averaging a team-high 14.9 points per game. She led the team with 18 points in her Samford debut against UT Martin. She then had a team-high 19 points in a win over North Alabama. Cournoyer led the team with 14 points at No. 9 Kentucky. She also had 17 points in a win over Birmingham-Southern, 16 against Mercer, 17 in game one at Western Carolina, and a season-high 20 in game two at WCU.
 
ARMSTRONG REACHES CAREER MILESTONE: During last Thursday night's win at Western Carolina, Natalie Armstrong became just the ninth player in program history to score 1,000 career points. She currently ranks eighth in program history with 1,011 career points.
 
AMONG SOCON LEADERS: Entering this game, Samford, as a team, leads the Southern Conference in scoring (70.1), field goal percentage (.447), three-point field goal percentage (.363) and three-pointers made per game (7.5). The Bulldogs also rank second in the league in scoring margin (+4.4.), rebounding defense (34.2), assists per game (14.8) and assist/turnover ratio (0.8).
 
SAMFORD IN SOCON PLAY: Since joining the Southern Conference in 2008, Samford has a record of 123-82 in league games. Against the current members of the SoCon, Samford has an all-time record of 107-79. Samford's all-time record against each current SoCon team is: Chattanooga (8-25), ETSU (8-6), Furman (15-13), Mercer (8-19), UNCG (19-7), Western Carolina (25-4) and Wofford (24-5).
 
SAMFORD AWAY FROM HOME: This season, Samford has 13 games  on its schedule set to be played away from the Pete Hanna Center, and the Bulldogs are currently 2-5 in those contests. Last season, Samford was 12-9 away from the friendly confines of the Pete Hanna Center, including an 8-9 mark in true road games and 4-0 in neutral-site contests.
 
SAMFORD AGAINST TENNESSEE TEAMS: Samford has an all-time record of 49-69 against teams from the state of Tennessee, including an 8-25 mark against Chattanooga. Samford has played the following Tennessee teams: Austin Peay (7-3), Belmont (0-8), Chattanooga (8-25), ETSU (8-6), Lipscomb (3-0), Martin Methodist (1-0), Memphis (2-2), UT Martin (5-12), Tennessee State (9-2), Tennessee Tech (6-8) and Vanderbilt (0-3).
